Florida Keys Professional Photography were asked to shoot both on location and on the day of the show for this Dance Journey of a life time.
Phoenix Rising was a tribute to a young man. The choreography based on his memory, each song and artist relate somehow to his life. Dance Journey presented Phoenix Rising at the Coral Shores High School Performing Arts Center.
Gallery Access is available to parents and family members of the dancers, the film will be ready soon. https://nadakhalafjones.pixieset.com//dancejourney/
More poignant for me was this heart wrenching performance that brought tears to my eyes. The song that describes some of the strong feelings adolescent girls and boys go through as they pass into adulthood.
Wayward Son by Kansas

Carry on my wayward son
For there’ll be peace when you are doneLay your weary head to rest
Don’t you cry no more
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond the illusion
I was soaring ever higher, but I flew too highThough my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad manI hear the voices when I’m dreamin’, I can hear them say
Carry on my wayward son
For there’ll be peace when you are doneLay your weary head to rest
Don’t you cry no more
Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the seasonAnd if I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don’t know
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I’m like a ship on the oceanI set a course for winds of fortune, but I hear the voices say
Carry on my wayward son
For there’ll be peace when you are doneLay your weary head to rest
Don’t you cry no moreCarry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
Now your life’s no longer empty
Surely heaven waits for youCarry on my wayward son
For there’ll be peace when you are doneLay your weary head to rest
